DPREVIEW i njegovi "testeri" Lars Rehm i Richard Butler su uradili i nedavno predstavili detaljan test CANON 50D modela na tom sajtu. Nisam se mnogo unosio u retoriku i detalje, ali na kraju u njihovom zaključku Canon 50D je očekivano dobio ocenu "Highly Recommended", pokazao je osetan napredak u odnosu na prethodni model 40D, ali autori testa su ipak očekivali više od novog Canon 50D modela.
To je dugogodišnja politika svih proizvođača na koju smo već navikli. Daju nam sve "na kašičicu" i ostavljaju ponešto i za naredni model. Primera radi, ubačen je po prvi put neki CMOS senzor u SX1 IS, a konačno je stavljen "široki" objektiv na novi G10, a svi smo očekivali i "široki" objektiv i CMOS senzor u Canon G10
Ovo su neke dobre i loše osobine novog Canon 50D koje su izdvojili autori na kraju svog testa (nadam da nije problem sto je na ENG):

Conclusion - Cons * High ISO performance worse than 40D
* Reduced dynamic range in the shadow areas compared to EOS 40D
* Per-pixel detail not as good as on good 10 or 12 megapixel cameras
* High-end lenses required to get the most out of the camera
* Poor white balance performance under artificial light
* Flash must be up for AF assist lamp (although AF is good even in low light)
* Live view not as accurate as on 40D (framing very slightly off-center, in contrast detect AF mode not possible to magnify right out to the extreme corners)
